Battling Mosquitoes: Can KD Gold Help?

Battling Mosquitoes

We have been battling mosquitoes and the diseases they carry for a long time. Now with the Zika virus, the risk focus is on pregnant women and their unborn children.

Unfortunately, the current threat of the Zika virus has made cities, counties and states fall back to the usual response: spraying dangerous pesticides all over us from airplanes.

The Problem?

Pesticides are toxic chemicals that are as dangerous – if not more so– than the viruses mosquitoes carry. Also, as I’ve personally seen, mosquitoes are more than capable of evacuating the treated area and come back when it’s safe.

Even worse, the mosquitoes and larvae that survive the pesticide sprayings become more immune to, and even addicted to, the pesticides used to kill them. Which means the use of stronger and stronger pesticides every time they spray, putting in danger the lives of our children and families.

This is why we need to work together to prevent mosquitoes from becoming prolific through natural, non-toxic and common sense means.

But, How Can KD Gold Help?

Yes, KD Gold can help in a very interesting way.

Picture this: have you seen images of mosquitoes standing on the surface of a puddle or pond? Have you seen images of their eggs or larva floating on water? Or perhaps you’ve actually seen this yourself? Yes, the mosquitoes are walking or floating on water. They are able to do this because of the surface tension of water (and the fact that they’re less dense than water).

Floating Mosquito larvae  KD Gold is a low-foaming, non-toxic, biodegradable liquid soap surfactant. Surfactants make water wetter. How? They reduce the surface tension of water, making it difficult for anything to float on the surface, like mosquitoes or their larvae.

How Is This Possible?

Well, KD Gold™ is very soluble in water, and as a colloidal micelle liquid, it contains “nano” sized particles. This makes it immediately effective at separating the tightly packed H2O molecules that form at the surface of water to separate it from air.
When KD Gold™ is used on standing water or humid areas, the disruption to the water’s surface causes the larvae to drop below the water’s surface and drown and prevents mosquitoes or their eggs & larvae to float as they usually can.

How Do I Use KD Gold to Prevent Mosquitoes from Breeding?

To use, dilute 1 oz to ¼ oz of KD Gold™ Concentrate into a gallon of water (soft water is best). Pour into an empty spray bottle and spray as needed! Again, KD Gold doesn’t kill mosquitoes, it makes it difficult for mosquitoes to use their preferred places to breed.

KD Gold™ is non-toxic and biodegradable, so it’s safe for aquatic life and for use around children, pets and people with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). KD Gold™ is also Kosher, for safe use in Jewish kitchens and households.

How Else Can I Protect Myself from Mosquitoes?

If your garden, front yard and/or back yard have become a mosquito’s buffet restaurant, be vigilant and proactive.

First of all, empty out ALL standing water in your surrounding areas. You can spray it first with KD Gold if you wish. If you see neighbors that have standing water, talk to them as soon as possible.

If you have a birdbath, a fountain or any water left out for animals, make sure to replace the water frequently or make sure it has a pump. Run a fountain every day or so to get the water moving. Also, clean birdbaths, water bowls or fountains with KD Gold™ periodically. KD Gold™ rinses easily with minimal use of water and doesn’t damage the surface of natural materials such as wood and stone. If your items have oil-based varnishes, make sure to rinse well right after cleaning.

Second, find any areas in your yard where the soil is humid and spray them extra well. Don’t just do it one time, do it periodically and consistently. KD Gold is not a pesticide, it is a soap surfactant, and is easily rinsed away with rain.

Third, locate any area in the exterior of your house that is dark and humid, including any cubbyholes that could make it easy for mosquitoes to breed, such as the space between a tool shed and a fence and spray KD Gold™ periodically.

Fourth, using the dilutions indicated above, spray KD Gold™ liberally in your yard, your awnings, underneath decks, and gardens.

Fifth, when going out, make sure to wear clothes that cover your arms and legs. And don’t forget to carry a bottle of ready-to-use KD Gold™!

Can I Combine KD Gold with Other Natural Mosquito Repellents?

Just add a couple of drops of one of the following mosquito repelling essential oils to a 2oz sprayer bottle of diluted KD Gold and spray your clothes and extremities. Well known mosquito repellent essential oils are: peppermint, greek catnip, lavender, lemon eucalyptus, cinnamon, thyme and soybean oils.

Why Does KD Gold™ Work So Well With Essential Oils?

KD Gold mixes the particles of the oils evenly with it’s nano molecules and holds them in suspension, making for even application and great effectiveness.

Together, we can keep our environment safe for our families with healthy, non-toxic products and natural solutions!
